Christian Wedding Song

This was written for a step-daughter’s wedding.
May any couple who choose to use the song be richly blessed throughout their married lives.

Father, give your love
and build it in these your servants,
Guide them to share love every day:
Create in each an affection
Reflecting your love,
Generous beyond the world’s way.

Jesus, give your peace
And grow it in these your servants,
Hold it in their home every day;
May it flow outwards
To those they encounter
As witness that peace is your way.

Spirit, give your joy
And spread it through these your servants,
help them be joyful every day;
With love and peace, may
Their joy be in great abundance
As they build life in your way.

Original Introduction
Weddings are perhaps the most joyful of the rites of passage of the human race. Christian weddings have the added value of having a spiritual as well as a civic/social element.
Here, at the beginning of Summer in the northern hemisphere and, therefore, a time that sees an upsurge in weddings, is a Wedding Song which is soundly Trinitarian in form, welcoming Father, Son and Holy Spirit into the marriage relationship.
It can be sung as a general song by changing the pronouns as in the music score - which we did, the day after my step-daughter's wedding when the song was first sung. The music score is at the bottom and I thank our late friend CF-J for her kindness in scoring it for us.

This can also be sung as an all-purpose worship song: in which case, the words can be changed as follows

Father, give your love
and build it in us your servants,
Guide us to share love every day:
Create in us an affection
Reflecting your love,
Generous beyond the world’s way.

Jesus, give your peace
And grow it in us your servants,
Hold it in our homes every day;
May it flow outwards
To those we encounter
As witness that peace is your way.

Spirit, give your joy
And spread it through us your servants,
help us be joyful every day;
With love and peace, may
Our joy be in great abundance
As we build life in your way.

Ten thousand billion suns - A scintilla of God’s Universe
It is currently thought that the Universe has at least 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars! Hence the use of the word ‘scintilla’ for a mere ten thousand billion.

This beautiful head of roses in our garden, which are giving off a delightful perfume in the morning sun, seems a fitting picture to link to the sonnet 'Evolution and Beauty'. Let the picture take you there. It is a surprise because it is growing high on a bush of otherwise pure yellow roses: amazing!
